Brownlee Press is a small print shop in Grand Rapids, Michigan - run by one person: Bill Black. That’s me. Hello.

This whole thing exists because printing, for whatever reason, printing seemed overly complicated. Margins and spacing, bleed, setting up booklets, separate layers for cutlines, die-cuts, fingers crossed, right?! Brownlee is the opposite of that. Real eyes on every file, thoughtful production, and an actual drive to make your dreams come true (maybe that's a little dramatic?).

Most of those 'dreams' are about the paper we're printing on. Not all paper is created equal, sorry, that's just the way it is.

I stock what I genuinely believe is the best paper on the planet: French Paper Co., made right here in Michigan (Niles, to be exact). It’s got texture, personality, little flecks and fibers - stuff that actually makes your print feel like a dream, not just ink on a piece of paper. I keep a rotating selection on hand, so there’s always something fun in the mix depending on what you’re printing.

If you want to go down a paper rabbit hole, you can check them out here:

Beyond client work, Brownlee also has a "shop" side - where things can get a little more… specific.

There’s a growing collection of I Think You Should Leave-inspired merch. Prints, cards, toys... stuff. All kinds of pop-culture references are sprinkled throughout my small shop. I've got so much junk on the wall, it feels like a TGI Fridays in the 90s.

At the end of the day, this isn’t a massive operation. It’s one person, some machines, tons of paper, and a genuine effort to make printing feel better, easier, and hopefully even a little fun.

Brownlee Press: making printing… better.
